Scene is an iOS app for ranking movies head-to-head with friends. This policy explains what data Scene collects, how it's used, and your rights.
What we collect
- Sign-in info from Apple. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and an email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your real email). This is how your account is identified.
- Your activity in the app. Ratings, head-to-head comparisons, watchlist entries, comments, and reactions you create are stored so we can show them to you and to friends you've connected with.
- A user ID. Each account has an internal user ID used to associate your data with your account.
- An anonymous device identifier. Used by our analytics tool to group events from the same install before you sign in.
- Product interaction data. Taps, screen views, and feature usage — used to understand which parts of Scene people actually use.
- Performance data. Things like load times and errors, used to diagnose problems.
- Session recordings. Scene captures screen recordings of in-app sessions to help us debug issues and understand user experience. Text inputs are masked. We do not record anything outside the Scene app.
How we use it
- To run Scene's core features (ranking, friend lists, comments, reactions).
- To understand how Scene is used and improve it.
- To investigate bugs and crashes.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with data brokers.
Who we share data with
Scene uses these third-party services to run the app:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication. Your account data, ratings, and friend graph are stored here.
- PostHog — product analytics and session replay. Receives your user ID, anonymous device ID, product interaction events, performance data, and session recordings.
- TMDB (The Movie Database) — provides movie information. When you search for a movie, your query is sent to TMDB. TMDB does not receive your identity.
- Apple — handles Sign in with Apple.
Data retention
Your data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted within 30 days.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data or delete your account at any time by emailing sheldon@brewatlas.co.
Children
Scene is not intended for users under 13.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
